Beyonce Lip Sync’s The National Anthem?

Now it is time for Beyonce to lip sync, for her life!

In studio preparation for the Inauguration performance

Beyonce and lip sync are two words that should never be in the same sentence. We sit in awe of every Beyonce performance truly stunned by her ability to entertain. We have seen her tumble down during a dance number and hop right back up as if it was planned. It seems even a Beyonce mistake is a gift from the heavens. Except when it was believed that her 2013 Inauguration National Anthem performance was actually just posturing and mouth movements. According to the Inauguration official that spoke with CNN, “[We] were puzzled as to why she decided to lip sync when it was clear from the prerecorded version that she could effortlessly nail the performance.”

Could it be that America’s sweetheart lip synced on such a historical day?
Did Beyonce really lip sync on Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday?

It seems sources are unclear on the truth behind this unfortunate mystery, as her camp has yet to release a formal statement. Aretha Franklin, 2009 Inauguration performer had this to say, “The weather down there was about 46 or 44 degrees and for most singers that is just not good singing weather.” In turn, it doesn’t look so good for Beyonce that fellow performer Kelly Clarkson belted out ‘My Country, Tis of Thee’ without assistance from a background track, in the same frigid temperature. Fellow artist Alicia Keys defended the singer, “the one thing that you cannot doubt is that she can sing. She absolutely can sing.” It seems Keys does have a point that should not be overlooked. Beyonce’s decision to lip sync does not take away from all of her live performances in which she sang live.

This scandal has also raised the question on whether she will decide to lip sync for the 2013 super bowl. Past performer, Madonna, chose to lip sync and states that it was a “nerve racking performance”. The Black Eyed Peas sang live during their half-time show, and fans believed it was their worst performance. All-in-all, we believe Beyonce should have given a live performance for the Inauguration, and saved the background track for the super bowl. We guess we will just have to wait and see!

If you can’t perform and sing live at ALL performances – then you are not a singer.
