There are millions of young girls right this moment who are scouring the internet for modeling jobs and modeling auditions, hoping that one day they will get to the top spot in the fashion or entertainment industries and grace the red carpet. This is a common dream among many young women, and men too. However no one thinks about the day that they may hit the red carpet looking less than fashion forward, and be listed among the other ‘design blind’ on the dreaded “Worst Dressed Lists.”
Celebrities are known to take chances with their wardrobe and do whatever is needed for that WOW factor. Sometimes this rebellious nature can backfire as many a red carpet outfit has caused an outrage amongst the public. Stars work closely with stylists and fashion designers to create a special customized look for high-end events. It is a stylists job to make a model or an actor or actress come to life within their clothing, and create a memorable look for the evening that will be praised for years to come.
Then again, there are celebrities that have been known to have a fashion sense all on their own. Celebrities such as: Courtney Love, Bai Ling, Helena Bonham Carter, Macy Gray, and most of the Jersey Shore cast. Fashion is a form of expression, and many of these celebrities choose to rally against the norms of the red carpet, and end up on the “Worst Dressed Lists”. It is wrong to assume that a celebrity will always be the best dressed.
Even when celebs do make a fashion misstep, it seems to gear them in the right direction as the news and internet become alight with discussion of their fashion roadkill. Perhaps some of the blame of fashion butchering is part publicity stunt, as much as it is no style.
