Late August and early September can be a daunting time for school age children around the United States. Summer seems to fly by leaving us wanting more, and hiding from those pesky back to school commercials. Then there are those special kids that enjoy the start of school to reconnect with friends, expand their knowledge and rule the hallways in their new back to school clothes. Shopping is probably the best part about preparing for the first day; from head to toe, every kid has that first day of school outfit ready with the excitement of looking great for the first day.
To help our young Facebook friends get excited for school and back to school fashion, we held a contest in which school age fans submitted their back to school outfits at the chance of landing a spot on our cover photo. As an entertainment industry professional, we enjoy the chance at pairing education with something fluid and artistic like fashion. Luckily, for us our Facebook friends are super stylish kids with amazing personality!
Shantel is our purple pattern princess! Her pastel colored cropped jacket was a wonderful choice with the deep purple colors throughout her dress. Her overall style says welcome fall, while embracing the warmth left behind by summer. She uses a small belt of the same pattern to clench the dress and add shape to the body of the dress. She accessorizes with black dot earrings that match the pattern in her dress. Her long silver necklace was a good choice, as the neckline of her dress comes up high above her waist. Shantel completes her outfit with embellished silver sandals. Shantel is an excellent example of pairing colors together in a fun way!
Jaida is one hip kid with a love of bright colors! She models a bright yellow shirt layered over a pink and grey striped shirt, which shows that she knows how to play with patterns. The colored jean is super in style this season and Jaida ties in the matching pink jean in perfectly. She continues her colorful theme down to her feet with her Chuck Taylor style sneakers laced in pink. Jaida finishes off her look with a grey fedora which adds even more personality to her fun back to school ensemble!
Nicky is a fashion rock star combining the nostalgic varsity jacket with jean shorts, and a Hello Kitty purple t-shirt. She incorporates different hues of purple throughout her look without being too “matchy-matchy”. Since the beginning of summer, the trend of wearing ankle socks has begun to fizzle out, while high or medium length socks have started to make an appearance. Nicky wears medium length, multi-colored star socks, with her classic black and white low top Chuck Taylors. Her book bag is all too important to her look, and the knapsacks’s burst of purple and pink really work well with her outfit. A true mini-fashionista can never forget her hair, and Nicky chose a pink bowed headband that completes her look!
Kevin is simplistic but stylish in his black and white ensemble. He channels fashionable hip hop artist Kanye West by sticking to this tried and true primary color combination. His dark frames add sophistication to his look, and his minimalistic accessories work well. The layered look has been in for a quite a while, and Kevin does it to perfection with his crisp white undershirt. The silver pocket chain also adds a rugged appeal to his back to school look. The pin stripes on his white shorts are a nice addition to his simple and super cool look!
